Who am I?
Dr. Alp Özgün Börcek was born in 1978. He graduated from
Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 2002 as a Doctor of Medicine and attended
to Department of Neurosurgery of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine as a resident
between 2002 and 2009.
In 2010 he was accepted as a staff to the Department of Neurosurgery of Gazi
University Faculty of Medicine and still works there. He has started his
Neuroscience Doctorate in the same university and still under training. During his
senior residency years, he won a scholarship from AANS and attended Dr. James
Rutka’s s clinic in Toronto Sick Children Hospital as a pediatric neurosurgery
observer. He has directed a scientific research and development project which was
supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK)
with a funding of 1 million US$. He is designated as professor of neurosurgery in
2022.
He has 85 international scientific publications, 1 international and 10 local
chapters in neurosurgical books.
He has received a Neurosurgical Certification of Competency in Neurosurgery from the
Turkish Neurosurgical Society after a two-stage examination. He also holds written
certification of EANS. He is father of a son and a daughter of twins.
His main areas of interest are all aspects of Pediatric Neurosurgery. Additionally,
he has specialized in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery for both pediatric and adult
patients.
Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery, which has the
International Accreditation of the European Association of Neurosurgery,
successfully serves its patients with the latest technology Intraoperative Magnetic
Resonance Imaging, Intraoperative Tomography Imaging, Neuronavigation Device,
Endoscopy Systems.
